In Viqueque the situation is worrying and accurate information difficult to obtain. Press reports citing NGO sources, say 600 - 700 houses have been burnt in Viqueque. However the official figure of burnt houses is 142 for Viqueque & Baucau combined. More >>

Civil unrest is occurring in Baucau, Dili, Lautem, and Viqueque in connection with the announcement of the new government on the 6th August 2007 following the 30th June parliamentary elections. In Baucau and Viqueque, the situation has deteriorated. More >>
